The region of Bourgogne can be considered a gourmand region, not only for the production of some of the worlds best wines, but also for one of the world’s tastiest mustard, Dijon. The cuisine is probably the best in France and the nightlife is something else too.

Info: The most sophisticated restaurant in town specializes in modern market cuisine, employing the freshest ingredients to create artfully presented menus that change, often radically, eight times a year. The setting is an 1870 house 10 min. walk from the cathedral. In summer, an awning shades an outdoor terrace.

Le Pre aux Clercs
Info: Set in an 18th century house across from the Palais des Ducs, this is one of Burgundy’s finest restaurants, with a reputation that dates to 1833. Menu items, served beneath an intricately beamed ceiling, may include such dishes as a terrine of pigeon with a confit of garlic, crayfish prepared with aged sherry vinegar, and roasted duckling with gingerbread stuffing. The array of wines will delight any connoisseur.

Jardin des Remparts
Info: This is the finest restaurant in Beaune, topping even Bernard Morillon. Just outside the city’s medieval wall, it’s in a 1930s Art Deco maison bourgeoise. Two pale-yellow-and-green dining rooms open onto a terrace overlooking the garden. Happily, prices for the well-regarded cuisine are a bit lower than you may expect.
